SO 60 per cent of submissions for the redevelopment of Turner Caravan Park reject the proposed plan.
In a general election a party losing by 60 per cent to 40 per cent would at least go into a huddle to figure out why it was so out of touch with the people.
Not our Council staff though, they boldly claim victory and recommend full steam ahead with their proposed plan.
With some councillors inferring that it is only those ‘freeloaders’ patronising the park and their ‘friends’ who oppose the over-development of the park.
Cr Smart claims 90 per cent of Augusta supports the proposed plans–proof please.
That figure doesn’t tally with my observations.
This great riverside location affords the town an opportunity to position a town park there, the southern section approximately 2ha adjacent to Albany Terrace, largely free of development is ideal.
If this site is lost now, where else could a riverside park be located close to the township?
The town needs a meeting place, a place to relax and observe the river life, where festivals, concerts, picnics and markets could be held in a spacious site.
Augusta–nature bestowed us with a bounty, let’s not sell it all off for booty.
