CONGRATULATIONS to the Farmers Market committee for a great start to their market season.
There was a wonderful selection of stalls with something for everyone.
With the promise of a good coffee I reluctantly dragged myself out of winter hibernation and had a wonderful morning catching up with people I hadn't seen for ages and buying reasonable priced good quality produce that I actually needed to feed the family.
Okay, so the flowers and chocolates weren't strictly necessary but feeding the soul is just as important.
Margaret River is awash with commercial events where your enjoyment level is often in proportion to the amount of money spent or alcohol consumed.
This was a fun event, had a great community feel, a carnival atmosphere and everyone left with a smile.
One lucky person left with a huge hamper of goodies just for shopping.
It also highlighted the Community Resource Centre site as a charming venue.
The next important community event is the Agricultural Show, another dedicated committee and another opportunity for the people of the Shire to come together.
The Farmers Market committee have done it tough over the last couple of years but persistence pays off and I sincerely hope the support for this dedicated band of foodies continues.
