A man's body has been found at Maryborough on Queensland's Fraser Coast.

Police said a passer-by found the body in the grounds of St Mary's Church about 7.55am.

Police are treating the death as suspicious at this time. The scene has been cordoned off.

A spokeswoman said the man, who is of unknown age, was not carrying any form of identification.
