MR Munchers 3 d Dunsborough II 1

THAT headline is not a reference to how tall the players seem to have gotten this year!

Within the first three minutes of the game it was obvious that the Margaret River Munchers were a determined lot with Nicholas Gaman performing a beautiful cross pass to Zeke Jeffries who put it away to score the first goal.

This was followed closely by the fast running Hudson Spooner who closed down the Dunsborough defence and enabled Nicholas to score the second goal after the ball hit the goal post and bounced in.

This seemed to make the Dunsborough 2s more alert as they picked up the pace and their goalie performed a good save, preventing the Munchers from scoring yet another goal.

All of a sudden Dunsborough 2s were heading towards their goal posts with grim determination but Captain Pascoe ‘the rock’ Paice got the ball out of the crowd and managed to kick it away.

There were a few great attempts for goal by Dunsborough 2s but they failed to score as the Munchers’ defence was too strong and Jamie Rudrum’s great goal keeping skills held.

Speedy Michael Andros brought the ball back down the field with clever passing between Donnie Longmore, Jaz Kupfer-Hollis and Hudson, all showing clever footwork and great teamworking.

In the second half of the game, Dunsbourough 2 came out with much better defence.

Jaz got a great corner shot but the Munchers had grown a little too confident as the ball got away from them and the skilled number 8 from the Dunsborough 2s scored their first goal at the five minute mark.

Nicholas had a great attempt at a goal but it narrowly missed as did the kick by Jaz which unfortunately hit the goal post.

Then Zeke had a go and also couldn’t get past the Dunsborough 2s’ good defence either.

It was Jamie who cleverly scored the goal for the Munchers in the second half.

But it was Oscar North who worked hardest throughout the game, got in there, passed the ball well and performed many saves which earned him the best player of the week award.

Justin Davies the Munchers coach was happy with his team as they prevented Dunsborough 2s scoring any more goals in the final minutes of an exciting well played game by both teams.

Best player

Oscar North (Munchers)
