LOCAL Creed McTaggart won the prestigious Billabong Occy Grom Comp Indonesia 14 and Under Boys division at Canggu in Bali on the weekend.
In a super close and seesawing final McTaggart defeated fellow Australian surfers Matt Banting (Port Macquarie) and Cooper Chapman (North Narrabeen/Sydney).
Keanu Asing (Hawaii/Oahu) won the Billabong Pro Junior Canggu event overall, defeating Australia’s Ice Periera (Gold Coast/Coolangatta) in an entertaining and high quality final.
Mark Occhilupo, the 1999 ASP World Champion, was on the beach to watch all the day’s action and the youngsters went crazy with huge moves and scores a-plenty.
The 14 Boys final was far closer with the lead changing several times before McTaggart claimed the win with an excellent final 8.5 ride.
The Billabong Pro Junior Series is sanctioned by the Coca-Cola Indonesian Surfing Championships as part of the Pro Junior Championship Division.
The series is the most lucrative on the Indonesian calendar, attracting surfers from Australia, Indonesia, US, Hawaii, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Europe.
