THE new bowling season has dawned, albeit a bit damp for a summer sport, and we have been busy recruiting players for our expanded men’s pennant sides, renovating B Green and fine tuning the excellent A Green.
This season will see the local side present two First Division and one Second Division team for the men, plus one very strong ladies team, a big improvement from previous seasons giving every bowler better opportunities to tackle the complexities of a very competitive game.
The Margaret River bowling club has attracted a healthy number of new members keen to enjoy the friendship and great lifestyle and facilities on offer, with the opportunity of playing bowls from Wednesday to Sunday every week.
Great fun and healthy too.
Events to keep in mind include the On The Green Corporate Bowls competition which starts on November 5, so anyone not in a team yet and keen to play should contact either president Leith Bussell 9757 2291 or captain Keith Simmonds 9755 5790.
Visitors, members and anyone keen to learn how to play can come along on any Friday evening from 5pm and play in our scroungers event, so why not come and give it a go, have some fun, and learn a bit more about what makes bowls the biggest adult participation sport in Australia today.
Please note we need helpers for a busy bee at 9am tomorrow (Thursday, October ) and don’t forget the opening day on Sunday, October 12 is 9am for a 9.30am start.
See you there.
