Golfers get pretty in pink

8/10/2008 10:05:00 AM
IN less than perfect conditions (again) 19 women braved gale force winds and driving rain, to play for the Jenny Forward Trophy in a stroke competition.

As requested by Jenny the majority of players came dressed in pink to celebrate her favourite colour, this certainly helped to brighten up a dreary day.

As luck would have it, the winner on the day was none other than the trophy donor Jenny with a 73 nett (yep, the scores weren’t that good-blame it on the weather). Jenny however couldn’t take home the prize so the lucky recipient of that trophy went to Kerry Borgas with 74.

The runner-up award was hotly sought after with three ladies coming in with 75, but as is the case at the Augusta Golf Club the captain never loses a countback so that honour went to Leanne Ettridge, with Patricia Howells and Gail Marshall threatening to check the cards themselves to make sure it was all above board, as they settled for the third and fourth place trophies.

Novelties on the day went to P Howells, K Borgas, L Shephard and V Nock. The gross winner was J Forward.

This week is a par event sponsored by the Augusta Pharmacy.

Hopefully the weather will be a little kinder.
