THE Youth Advisory Council, supported by the Augusta-Margaret River Shire, is excited about their holiday activity program which will be run over the next few days.
The highlight of the school holiday project will be from 5pm to 9pm on Zuper Zone Night to be held this Friday October 10.
This event features a local mystery DJ, dance floor and a fashion parade of wearable art workshop creations.
To complement the evening, the YAC will also be hosting a multicultural food experience consisting of two mystery chefs conducting cooking sessions with distinctly Italian and Brazilian flavours.
In other activities, all young people are invited to vie for prizes in a pool competition or to just hang out at the Zone Room tonight between 5pm to 7.30pm, hosted by YAC members.
The following day, Thursday October 9, will feature two wearable art workshops, run by local artist Becky Durham, where young people are invited to spend the day creating funky wearable art from recyclable materials.
Wearable art sessions are free to all young people.
Session one runs from 10am to 12pm, with session two from 1pm-3pm at the Zone Room with food provided to participants.
On Friday October 10, Bomb City Skate will be running skateboard maintenance workshops from 10am to 12pm for a small cost of $5 with food provided to participants.
“All young people are encouraged to participate in these activities, no registration is needed, just come along to the Zone Room during the allocated times,” event co-ordinator and Shire Community Development Project officer Moana Lutton said.
YAC thanks the Shire and River Fresh IGA for their support of the project.
