LOCAL volunteer fire and rescue brigades have had to deal with a number of fires in the past two weeks.
On Sunday, August 17 a fire burning on private property on the Leeuwin Ridge, west-north-west of the Augusta Golf Club, threatened a house and burnt through until Monday, August 18.
Volunteer bush firefighters from Karridale, Molloy Island, Kudardup, Alexandra Bridge, Witchcliffe and Wallcliffe attended the fire over the two days.
About 55ha of land was burnt.
Firefighters had difficulty accessing the fire due to the terrain.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Workers in the area reported further fire activity after the incident.
Anyone with information regarding suspicious fires should contact Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 or the Augusta police on 9758 1575.
On Sunday, August 24 two separate fire incidents occurred in the Gracetown and Wallcliffe areas.
The fire in Gracetown was caused by a campfire and the one in Wallcliffe was a private burn which got out of hand.
Brigades ask the public to be extra careful with fuel reduction burns as the bush is reasonably dry for this time of year.
For concerns regards conducting a fuel reduction burn contact your local brigade officer.
To report a fire phone 000.
