A POSITIVE message on ageing will be presented to the senior citizens of Busselton and Margaret River by Noeline Brown, newly appointed Australian Ambassador for Ageing and television chef Ian Parmenter.
Vasse MLA Troy Buswell invited the two to attend a forum in Busselton on Friday, July 4, where local seniors will have the opportunity to discuss a range of issues.
Ms Brown will offer advice on accessing services for seniors, health matters, carers and associated issues, healthy eating and nutrition and keeping fit through exercise.
Mr Parmenter’s topics of discussion will involve general information about food and nutrition, plus the Stephanie Alexander’s Kitchen Garden scheme, which is being introduced to schools.
Mr Parmenter said he believes senior citizens are a bevy of knowledge where gardening is concerned, particularly fruit and vegetables, which would complement the theme of the school’s gardening scheme.
The forum will take place at St Mary’s family centre, Busselton on Friday, July 4 from 9.30am to 11.30am, and a second forum will be held in Margaret River from 2pm to 4pm at the Margaret River Cultural Centre.
Bookings are essential as places are limited.
